Barcelona, Spain – With registration, measurement, and a practice race complete, the stage is set for the 2021 ILCA 7 World Championships to launch Friday, November 5. 139 sailors from 44 countries around the world will compete in two fleets with 12 scheduled races until Wednesday, November 10.
Today Barcelona brought 3–5 knots with some current and lightning – this time of year can show unusual weather for Barcelona. Big waves and light wind are forecasted, so the sailors will have their work cut out for them in tricky conditions for the event.
The World Championship is being held at the Barcelona International Sailing Center (BISC) facilities and organized by the Catalan Sailing Federation, the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, and the Real Club Marítimo de Barcelona, with the collaboration of World Sailing, the International Laser Class Association, the Spanish Sailing Federation, the Government of Catalonia, the Barcelona City Council, and the Barcelona Provincial Council.
