Muscat, Oman – One race was completed today in the women’s fleet and two races in the men’s fleet at the 2021 ILCA 6 World Championships, due to more light and fickle wind. With the completion of four races today, the sailors were able to get their first drop in, which shifted around the leaderboard along with the race results.
In the women’s fleet, the top three sailors sit only one point apart from each other, showing a very strong and competitive fleet. Belgium’s Emma Plasschaert won the race of the day moving her up to first place overall, ahead of yesterday’s leader Julia Büsselberg, who got a black flag in today’s race. Poland’s Agata Barwinska, 2021 European champion, rose to third place overall after finishing fourth today. Viktorija Andrulyte of Lithuania finished second in today’s race moving her to fourth overall ahead of Greece’s Vasileia Karachaliou.
Viktorija Andrulyte of Lithuania, said, “There were light to medium winds today for us, which I enjoy a lot. There are still a lot of races to go, my expectation is that I just want to keep pushing myself and enjoy. The race is very hard, the fleet is really good, but it’s great to compete and be against the best sailors in this class.”
In the men’s fleet, Oman’s ALMuatasim Al Farsi is in the lead after an extremely consistent performance, with only first- and second-place finishes at the event thus far. Nik Pletikos of Slovenia holds second overall, just one point ahead of Oman’s AbdulMalik Al Hinai in third.

Three back-to-back races are scheduled for Day 4 with the first warning signal at 12:00. For more information and full results, see here.
