2022 ILCA Asian Open Championship

As the end of the year approaches, the 2022 ILCA Asian Open Championship is next on the horizon. The event will be held December 9–15, 2022 in Pattaya, Thailand, the same location of the 2023 ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 Masters World Championships in February.

The 2022 ILCA Asian Open Championship will include racing for the ILCA 4, ILCA 6, and ILCA 7. It has been organized by the Thailand ILCA Class Association and the ILCA Asian Region, and will be hosted by the Royal Varuna Yacht Club (RVYC).

RVYC is the premier sailing club and center of sailing in Thailand, located in a secluded cove between Pattaya and Jomtien, less than two hours away from Bangkok. It maintains year-round racing programs and offers facilities that include a clubhouse, restaurant, swimming pool, boat storage, and accommodations. In 1965, the Thai Monarch, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, himself a champion regional dinghy sailor, bestowed royal patronage on the club and named it after the Hindu god Varuna – “the god who knows the pathway of the wind.”

Entry for the event closes on November 16, 2022 at 23:59 Central U.S. Time. For more information and to apply for the 2022 ILCA Asian Open Championship, see here. For the Notice of Race, see here.
