Volos, Greece – No races were sailed today at the 2023 ILCA 4 Youth World Championships, hosted by the Nautical Club of Volos & Argonauts. In the morning there was no wind, so the sailors were postponed on shore. As the day progressed, the breeze built and the temperatures rose drastically so that it was blowing about 25–30 knots and about 46°C (115°F). According to the locals, today has been the hottest day in Greece this summer. Adding to the wild day of weather was a bushfire and its billowing cloud of smoke in the mountains nearby. Needless to say, racing was canceled, and the AP over A flags were raised.
Three races are scheduled for tomorrow, 27 July, with the first warning signal at 12:00. Organizing partners are the Hellenic Sailing Federation and the Municipality of Volos in conjunction with the Nautical Club of Volos & Argonauts and ILCA.
