2024 ILCA 6 Women’s World Championships – Day 2

Mar del Plata, Argentina – Today was the second day of racing at the 2024 ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship, held in the City of Mar del Plata and organized by the Yacht Club Argentino and the International Laser Class Association. The day unfolded with a northerly wind ranging from 15 to 20 knots under considerably better weather conditions for racing than the sailors experienced yesterday. Skies were clear, and there was a fairly consistent breeze for all races.

The forecast for the day had a window of good weather expected around noon, followed by a storm in the afternoon. It proved accurate as heavy rains and south winds arrived shortly after racing while competitors were entering the harbor. Luckily, both fleets managed to complete three races in this qualifying stage.

In second place, with only two points behind Rindon, is the Swedish sailor Josefin Olsson, the Olympic runner-up at the Tokyo 2020 Games. The United States sailor Charlotte Rose, who won the silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games, rounds out the top three finishers.

All competitors enjoyed a post-race meal at the Puerto Deportivo. The qualifying races will continue tomorrow.
